Pacific STEM Robotics Camps

Trainee Camp (Entering Grades 3-5): Students will build LEGO structures and a robot that are part of a battle arena where they will compete to be the last robot standing (LEGO Battle Royale). Students will work daily to improve their coding skills using block-based programming or even Python if they have programming experience. Students will engineer a project in Minecraft that they will present to a team of professionals that will determine the best design. The 2024 Trainee Minecraft theme is: My Dream School. A group of local programmers are working to add LEGO Rocket League to the camp as well.

Apprentice Camp (Entering Grades 6-8): Students build age-specific LEGO projects that will strengthen their engineering and collaborative skills. Students will construct and code robots to outmaneuver their opponents in one-on-one autonomous battles (LEGO Sumo). Students will work together as professional builders in Minecraft to build a specific design that will be judged by a group of professionals from related fields. Journeyman Camp (Entering Grades 9-12): Students will build LEGO that combines with other student projects to make a set for robot competitions. Students will learn and build skills with the Python programming language and use it to run/control the robots. Even though the robots used are LEGO, the coding language used to control them is advanced and will allow students to begin to think, plan, and execute like a professional programmer. The robotic competition that will be a part of this camp will be a LEGO Pod Racing. The Minecraft challenge that will be a part of this camp is Terraforming Mars. The panel invited to judge this challenge will be from STEM fields. A group of local programmers are working to add LEGO Rocket League to the camp as well.
